Inis Meáin Knitting Company was set up in 1976 by Tarlach de Blácam and Áine Ní Chonghaile to create sustainable work on Inis Meáin, the middle of the three Aran Islands off County Galway, and remains the only knitwear factory on any of the islands. It makes up to 50 styles a season in cashmere, merino, alpaca, lambswool and silk, every garment hand-finished with hand-linked seams. Sweaters run from about €265 to €1,495.
